Vespers Descent / The Burning album updates

Vespers Descent Reality Dysfunction Vespers Descent have been out of action for a while due to line-up changes but they're coming back with a vengeance. They recently played at the Sovereign Studios sampler cd launch with the new members and they were sounding better than ever. People familiar with local thrash outfit The Burning would recognise Richard Clements on board now as the new vocalist, and drummer Ben Mazzarol (ex-Chaos Divine / Noctis) has injected a new level of energy and brutality to the Vespers sound. Keep an eye out for the new E.P. coming soon, entitled "Reality Dysfunction" - by looks of things it will definitely be one to check out.

The Burning The Living Dead Mentioning The Burning brings me to another update I've been meaning to do for a while. Though the band is currently defunct they recorded a 13 track album which they are planning to release, although not sure of when. The cover artwork done by Chris 'Savage' Bolton is awesome, and apparently the rest of the booklet is pretty amazing too, with different images for each song. Fans of old school thrash / death should stay tuned for more details.

Saturday night sizzlers

Nina's 30thThere are a couple of gigs worth checking out this Saturday night - one being the annual event to celebrate Nina's birthday (Nina being a long standing main-stay of the Perth metal scene). This one is extra special as it is her 30th! But let me say Nina, you don't look a day over 10,957 days old!

To celebrate the occasion in true metal spirit will be performances by Enforce, Maximum Perversion, Arterial Haemorrhage and Dethlahem making their first appearance in a long time, along with their new members. This is happening at the Rosemount Hotel and definitely worth coming down for.

But if rocking out is more your style then Saturday will also be your last chance to see Subtruck play (at least for a while and the current lineup).  Drummer Kris Goodwin has decided to leave the band. This Saturday August 4 at The Civic will be his final appearance with the band.

Singer/guitarist/songwriter Phil Bradley is not closing the door on the Subtruck name and plans to continue it on in one form or another. The bad news is that bass player Rob Troup won't be continuing with the band and at this stage won't be performing bass with them at Saturday's show. EDIT: News just in - Rob WILL be playing bass with them this Saturday, making it his final show with Subtruck as well as Kris'. It's great that he has made this decision, giving us the chance to see the full lineup together one more time. And it definitely will be the last time with Rob and Kris in the band so if you're a fan of Subtruck there's no way you can miss it.

Neverborn feature page

Announcing the latest feature is on Neverborn, to coincide with the launch of their brand new album - "1000 Miles Of Hell". Featuring slick production and some cranking metal tunes, it culminates with a bunch of different styles and something for everyone.

The album will be launched in Perth on the 6th of July at Heat Nightclub. Supporting them will be The Alchemont, Dyscord, Angelsai and Left Ablaze, and if it is anything like their previous cd launch it will definitely be something to witness. These guys believe that putting on a show is more than just the music, there's gotta be some insanity going on on stage as well.
